Blueprints
The terrarium is built
of wardrobe doors from IKEA. They are 16 mm thick and of
oak (not solid oak though). The fronts (C+D) were 40 cm
wide and the sides were 60 cm.
I had a carpenter to
saw them as shown below to get it straight. It was really
worth the money because it all became very nice with
angles and the finish became really good.
The back and the floor
was made of 16 mm thick MDF board. The back had to be
made in two pieces since the largest MDF board I found
was 1220x2440 mm large.
I used various wood
strips (trim) to fasten the floor for example. The floor
was fastened with 15x15 mm wood strips with 30 mm screws.
The strips used to set up the lights were 40x8 mm lister.
The net roof was made out of 12x12 mm strips and the net
fastened to it.
It was all screwed
together from the inside with metal angles. I used some
20 of these angles. I used 16 mm screws in order not to
see the screws on the outside.
I started building by
attaching the back piece to the wall with two solid
screws. I made sure the position and angle was perfect.
then I started building. The screws can be removed but I
let them there for added stability. Then it was just a
matter of adding piece by piece.
