Building it
How it was built is
illustrated by the photos below. Don't forget to do the
electrical wiring before doing the interior decoration.
Behind the mountain containing the waterfall
I built a canal for the power cord to the
pump
and the fogger.
As background color I
used a thick plastic color where you get a bit of a
structure in the color. I painted it down on the floor to
prevent the MDF from swelling due to high
humidity.
The 'rocks' where made
in two different ways. At the bottom I used cement which
I colored with a dry color from an artists store. Burnt
Sienna gives a red-brown background which looks nice with
a green iguana on to of it. This was a very good solution
although I just to little color. However, this method was
not a good idea higher up, it just didn't stick. There I
used the same stuff that is used to tile e.g. a bathroom.
This becomes very sticky and was easy to apply. Due to
it's stickyness it was kind of hard to make nice natural
rock forms. Use rubber gloves! I also added some metal
net here and there for stability. This was simply nailed
to the back and the walls.
